Toyoda Gosei to Consolidate LED Production
Kiyosu, Japan, August 26, 2016: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. is consolidating production in its optoelectronics business in Japan from three sites to two in order to improve the utilization rate of production resources and increase its competitiveness in the field.
The company will end LED production at its Saga Plant in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture at the end of September 2016 and consolidate that production into its Heiwacho Plant in Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture and its subsidiary TS Opto Co., Ltd. in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture.
Employees working at the Saga Plant will be reassigned to Toyoda Gosei’s automotive parts plants, mainly in the Kyushu region. The company plans to repurpose its Saga Plant for use in its automotive parts business and restart operations there sometime in the next fiscal year.
Toyoda Gosei aims to grow its LED business by expanding sales of products that will promote the use of LED lighting in Southeast Asia and other regions, as well as focusing more on industrial-use LEDs (ultraviolet LEDs, glass-encapsulated LEDs) and LEDs for automobiles, where it can take advantage of its strengths as an automotive parts manufacturer.
